As of April 11th:

Here’s what’s been happening. I’ve had major computer problems so I have been trying really hard to get that fixed. Plus, I’ve had so many things on my mind lately, I’ve had no time whatsoever to even think about blogging. I apologize for that.

Regarding my wisdom tooth, alhumdulillah, it seems to be healing well. Initially a lot of food was getting stuck in there but the hole seems to have become more shallow now although I haven’t looked at it all that carefully but I don’t feel like things are piling up. So, that’s good. But there’s definitely still a hole.

I still am getting birds. I had started getting a different pair of bulbuls. These ones have white cheeks and a yellow bottom. And guess what? They had twins! MashaAllah. The babies are totally cute! They are greyish brown and slightly smaller than their parents. Slightly bigger than a sparrow. They’ve become quite friendly and don’t run away when they see me. Last week they were begging their parents to feed them and this week, they come to my balcony and start tweeting. I open the door and throw crushed biscuits and they gobble it up. They come really close. About a foot away from me. MashaAllah.

Other than that, I’ve been trying to make some positive changes in my life such as:
1. Try to pray tahajjud regularly. I can’t wake up to pray it so it’s a good thing, it’s okay to stay and pray it and sleep. Although, that’s pretty exhausting as well.
2. Reciting Surah Kahaf every Friday.

InshaAllah, I’ll post details on that

Reliance on Allah (swt)

It’s got quite cold in most parts of the world. I’m feeling rather bad for the birds and wondering how they survive the winter. I saw a dove today. It’s tail was missing. A pigeon has been visiting me for a few weeks. It has hurt one of it’s eyes. I think it can see out of it partially as it keeps looking at me as it walks across my balcony’s railing. Making me feel pity for it and so I especially put some food for it.

That reminds me. There’s a hadith about reliance on Allah (swt):
Narrated ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab: I heard Allah’s Messenger saying. “If you all relied on Allah with due reliance, He would certainly give you provision as He gives it to birds who issue forth hungry in the morning and return with full belly at dusk.”(At-Tirmidhi)

Alhumdulillah. :)

Well, here’s a picture of warmer times. :D And yes, this one I’ve snapped.

This Made Me Smile – part 3

It’s been almost 9 months or so since I started to keep food for the birds in my balcony. I’ve had a wonderful variety of birds coming to eat. Although, it’s mostly pigeons, I’m also getting sparrows, doves, mynas, a crow (never knew they were in the area!), and a couple of BulBuls. I realized early on that they were a pair and mashaAllah they are really pretty birds even though they are not so colourful. Probably the most distinguishing feature about them is their red bottom!

However, this is not what made me smile. For a few days, I hadn’t heard or seen the Bulbul pair come to my balcony and I felt bad because I wasn’t sure where else they might be finding food. However, I was pleasantly alerted to their presence by their sweet voice. As I peaked through my balcony door, I saw a baby along with them! It was bigger than a sparrow and had a funny tweet but cute nonetheless. MashaAllah! I really wished to take a family picture but I didn’t want to scare them on their baby’s first trip. I’m absolutely delighted. :D
